"For a few to be immortal many must die." Phillipe Weis
In my humble opinion In Time is the SciFi movie of 2011. This incredible movie is based on the precedence of everything being based around time. To pay for normal everyday necessities rather than use money the currency is time. So the saying of 'Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once Weis was born into time. Her father rewards her with time through doing menial everyday things. We watch how Will goes from a caring attached son who every waking hour is about helping his mother with the bills and wanting to give her the best birthday time can bring however on the day of his mother's birthday her life unfortunately cut short which presents a whole new side of Will as he had just been rewarded with a vast amount of time from a perfect rich stranger. However now having so much free time on his hands and being from the poorer side of town it was always gonna bring more trouble than he could deal with. The two become friends by chance but soon show the world how much of a dynamic duo they can be.
you've lost it you can never get it back.' as in this movie once you time is coming to your last few seconds you either need someone to share the little bit of time they have consumed or you will cease to exist. The film is based upon the two characters Will Salas who lives pay-clock to pay-clock where as Sylvia
Both movies are futuristic but take completely different stances on the future world. With 'In Time' we witness how the world is run solely on time and how the poor are being manipulated and basically murdered so the rich may live forever at the age of 28. Whereas with "The Fifth Element' the world has transformed from the world we know as there are flying cars/ships, aliens exist, shops, apartments and every day amenities are no longer on the ground but instead floating way above the ground. Luc Besson and Andrew Niccol both portrayed completely different aspects of the future but both believable in their own lights and each incredible with their unique stances of the world we could one day live in.
The Fifth Element
DJ Ruby Rhod: "What's wrong with you? What you screamin' for? Every 5 minutes there's somethin', a bomb or somethin'. I'm leavin'. bzzzz."
The Fifth Element has a bit of something for all viewing audiences, comedy, action, romance a bit of all aspects of the movie spectrum. The movie is mainly based upon a taxi driver who accidentally stumbles into a mission to save the world from evil with the help of Dj Ruby Rhod, Father Vito Cornelius and David.
We witness as Korben goes from a non caring citizen simply trying to get to work and keep the last of the point he has left on his license to the protagonist of the movie trying to keep Leeloo safe and trying to save the world from ending rapidly. There are plenty of trials and tribulations along the way however that just makes more for a more interesting mission and makes them more adamant to succeed.
The movie constantly keeps you in awe as you watch how his every day life is completely controlled by electronics even something as simple as making your bed. We witness Korben get out of his bed and instantly we watch the mattress and covers he slept with disappear into the far corner of the bed as a mattress, covers and pillow cover in plastic replace it. Even something as simple as your mail appears into the apartment through suction tubes.
