The Fosters is a television show about a lesbian couple bringing up there three children until they end up fostering and then going on to adopt two more. The two Mothers both lead stress lives with Lena being the Principal at the school she works at and Stef being a cop. They still somehow manage dealing with the every day stresses that teenagers bring, eldest son Brandon, twins Jesus and Mariana, and now their two new foster children Callie and Jude.
'You are every bit as much as our kids as Brandon is.' Stef
'For the record I love having two Moms'
Brandon is a music protege who eats, drinks and sleeps music. Occasionally he makes the wrong decision when try to protect his siblings and sometimes when he simply just trusts the wrong people which always leads to repercussions.
'There's nothing anyone can say to change how I feel about my family.'
Jesus struggles with ADHD and with taking his medication for in particular as he feels like it changes him. He soon joins the wrestling team to release some of the built up tension he has. Jesus is fiercely protective of his family specifically his twin sister due to the fact that they were abandoned by their biological Mother at a young and impressionable age.
'Our Moms are going to kill you.'
Mariana is a typical teenage girl, love to gossip/socialise with her friends, is part of the dance team. She too like Jesus is very family orientated, however she sometimes has conflicting feelings about her biological Mother and often gets herself in trouble trying to help her financially, but her two brothers always seem to help her see sense and help her out of the difficult situations she seems to find herself in.
'It's just....the Fosters. They're home. They feel like home.'
Callie is a rather sensitive young woman due to her upbringing, her 'Father' (we later find out that her and Jude have different Father's) accidentally kill her Mother crashing the car they were both in after a night of drinking, he survived but was soon sent to prison. Callie and her younger brother were soon put into the foster system where they were bounced around a few families. The last one being rather volatile with the foster Father being abusive towards both Callie and her brother. Callie and Jude are quickly welcomed into the Adam-Foster family and the family soon want to make them both permanent members but with Callie's past and her feelings for Brandon it gets a little complex. Callie ends up in a group home to deal with some of her past demons as well as the strong feelings she has for her now foster brother Brandon. They both have strong feelings for one another but try to resist acting on it as it will jeopardise Callie and Jude being fostered and later adopted by the Adams-Foster Family. Whilst in the group home Callie makes friends with the other girls there who also had difficult upbringings and a trans-gender guy who found himself in the home as his family disowned him when he came out as trans-gender. The two were not friends in the beginning but after Cole goes through a couple mishaps they soon become friends. Cole later falls for Callie after he's transitioned fully from female to male but the feelings are not reciprocated. After Callie has a heart to heart with him the two soon become good friends again.
'They told me what happened to Stef. I just wanted to be with everyone.'
Jude the youngest of the Foster clan is a rather quite, sensitive and definitely a loving little boy. Initially he relies on Callie for security and support but he soon realises he has that in his two new found Moms Lena and Stef. He soon embraces the idea of calling them Mom which reduces Lena to tears as she doesn't expect it. Jude is harbouring a secret which I think his family members can see but he himself is not sure yet. Jude appears to identify as either bi-sexual or gay. He hasn't quite worked it out for himself and he should know that he will always have the love and support of his Mom's and his older siblings. I think he further confirms his families suspicions when he allows his older sister Mariana to paint his fingernails. Jude's relationship with Connor seems rather confusing for both young boys but they soon come to terms with the attraction and realise they want to be together, even attending Gay Prom together.
